Rather than engaging with a Great Books Take that I think was dumb, I'll offer my own. Reading complex books rather than YA can be good for developing readerly skill, but Great Books are often lost on teen readers who lack life experience to process, e.g. a tale of middle aged love and loss.

I wish there was a way to demystify drawing for non-artists - there's nothing more to it that putting in the hours, learning technique, and most of all, just drawing a lot - I've always believed that anyone can learn how to draw if they're willing to make the time investment
