I have stopped even trying to think about any of the implications of elves living for ages in fantasy novels. My poor historian brain trying to figure out how a society like that would practically function keeps hurting when I do.
That actually sounds like a good solution. The less you think about things such as "but how do they deal with famine and plagues" and "how would their customs of inheritance look" the more of your sanity you can keep intact. ^.^
"Freiren: Beyond Journey's End" explores this idea with a mix of wistful melancholy, a certain stately beauty, and some very funny jokes. Maybe my favourite show of the last year.
