Nothing makes me more proud of my constituency than how they finally de-seated Cherry. It's really interesting to see the full breakdown too. Real positive results of awareness-raising and the democratic process doing its job!

Joanna Cherry faced one of the biggest loss-swings of any MP across the country. SNP activists refused to turn out for her and almost half her vote evaporated, dropping to 12.5k votes from nearly 25k. She's an electoral liability not just in her own seat but for the entire party.

Our local cinema's doing a 1999 Season & we got to see Stephen Sommers' "The Mummy" this week. Sure, it's a tad naive & colonialist in its worldview, but the script is cheekily self-aware, the action thrilling & the characters still as endearing as ever. Truly a fun, well-put-together film. 📽️

Le Pen's party (RN) got 143 seats. While a record, that's far (very far) from the 289 they hoped for to govern. How?! Hundreds of Left & Macronist candidates dropped out to help each other block the RN. And millions of voters then voted strategically to get that job done.

Dang, 'A Quiet Place: Day One' was excellent and absolutely ripped my heart out. I usually side-eye the series for very purposefully playing the audience's heartstrings, but this felt like a fitting epitaph to the fall of society whilst also having a very personal focus. 5⭐. 📽️

Feels good to be free of our tranphobic MP. She gone, ousted, booted to the kerb! Good riddance! Greens getting 4 seats is also very hopeful. Less thrilled about a Labour win with Starmer at its head, & it's bloody chilling that Reform even managed a small foothold... but we shall see, we shall see.

Having an intense Pride season so far. Had excellent fun at Dundee Pride, only then noticing I'd left my keys home. Flatmate was out at a big wrestling event & wasn't back 'til half-past midnight. Six hours of camping out in a stairway KO'd my lower back, but luckily I had a book with me to read. 🏳️‍🌈

Honestly, gendered words & grammar. Assigning gender to a person or object as intrinsic has always stumped me (especially if the language doesn't have gender-neutral options). Even vastly different syntax is easier than reconfiguring a sentence based on gender. *grumpy enby noises*
