I *loved* this book and learnt so much!

Immerwahr calls the USA a 'pointilist empire' in "How to Hide an Empire" because of its 730 military bases in 80 different contries. All other countries have 40 combined. And U.S. has claimed more water space than land, more than any other country. Books itemizes exercise of power all over world.
