Yeah carpet extractors are great, it's the soaps that mess stuff up really. Vinegar is fine, some kinds of citrus cleaners work well too. Back when I did that for a job we'd pretreat stains with that stuff before hitting it with the extractor. They'll suck up fresh cat pee, vinegar won't hurt it 🤙
