I flat out asked my pro-Trump family if they legitimately felt I should be imprisoned for wearing my pronoun pins at my place of work. Many of them refused to asked the question directly, which is itself and answer.

two reactions from folks who knew me before I began living authentically. Many adults (mainly parents of former students): “wow you let yourself go” A majority of my former students: “wow you look so much better/happier. Not that you weren’t happy before, but now it’s like you mean it.”

I saw someone say “money speaks loudest” and proceeded to claim that his one-time donation of $15 in 2021 was more important than his affiliation and proceeded to spend paragraphs explaining how this was a long-played operation. Again, based only on that $15 transaction.

No worries; I used to teach history. I also write, do a bit of local acting, play roleplay-heavy TTRPGS, & cook well enough. I even played the violin but I’m very much out of practice. I can’t seem to make the translation between what’s in my head come out via my hand, but that’s okay. 😊

I cannot draw. Even copying those “here’s how to draw [x]” things I’ll see a direction such as “start by drawing an oval” and I just . . . can’t. It looks wrong, I feel bad for even thinking I could learn, and so it goes. Some people just cannot “art” and I’m incredibly grateful for those that can.

Before I taught 4-year-olds I believed this to be true (I knew it actually)…but now that I teach them…I know it is true. It’s really amazing what they do with access, encouragement, collaboration and letting them know what’s up with happy accidents and repetition in art.

Interestingly I only lost one acquaintance over on FB in the last twenty four hours. He’s definitely anti-Trump but still pro-Republican and said “if you come into my comments and say that anything since 2015, including Jan 6, is worse than this, I’m going to block you” and so I did and he did.

Yep. My take on this framing is such that “unless you have a yard sign, bumper sticker, flag, tattoo, or shrine to our leader, we cannot take your say-so that you are one of us. In fact, the absence of these things makes you, de facto, an enemy to be destroyed” I hope I’m wrong, but . . .
