you can 100% build real and genuine human relationships with people who start out as fans or employees. you can connect with people on a human level, even when there is a power imbalance. CRITICALLY, there are limits to how close those relationships can become while the power imbalance exists!

It's depressing that Labour overthrew the Tories by abandoning a lot of principles, but at least a lot of bad people got utterly humiliated last night. Imagine if Ted Cruz, Mitch McConnell, Josh Hawley, and half the Freedom Caucus had to give concession speeches standing next to the Philly Phanatic.

this case against biden's resignation makes sense. i do think that if biden decides to step away from reelection, he should explicitly say that he is doing this because House Republicans are too corrupt to confirm a replacement for Harris.
1/ I'm agnostic as to whether Biden should withdraw from the race. It's a genuinely tough question IMO. But I have clarity on one thing: He should absolutely not step down as president. If Harris becomes President, the Vice Presidency is empty. Under the 25th Amendment ...

I've never heard of Tortoise Media before, and I find it deeply weird that they want me to install their app and listen to a 4-part podcast to learn the details of the accusations against Neil Gaiman. This is not in any way a judgment about the accusations themselves. 1/

This is, of course, a lie. What they mean is that if the people they consider to be left decline to use their power, it won't be their blood that spills until after that power has been destroyed. They'll come for the most marginalized first, and then they'll come for you after you've surrendered.

Okay, folks, who is putting together the list of the funniest crimes that Biden should be committing between now and election day to highlight the absurdity of today's immunity ruling? Not the stuff like assassinations. Just stuff to make a point.

to put a sharper point on this, the President’s power to pass an executive order regulating emissions is severely hampered. his power to use the DOJ or the military to regulate emissions is nearly unlimited

I just had an automatic toilet flush while I was sitting on it. Maybe Joe Biden can look into that, since he doesn't seem to be busy with anything more important right now.

“You’re a lawyer! What does this mean, really?” Man, I don’t fucking know. In the last week an entire area of law I studied was more or less rendered entirely moot and now there’s one specific guy in the whole country who may be able to do anything he wants without recourse. This is kind of new.

The Supreme Court's ruling carries with it the implication that the only accountability a President can face for official acts is extrajudicial accountability. I'm not sure that's what they were going for, but that's where they're taking us.

The SCOTUS immunity ruling is bad, but not because it suddenly grants Presidents new real powers. They've been openly violating the law with the presumption that their official acts are legal since the 18th Century. But the fact that SCOTUS is saying the quiet part loud now means it's legitimized.

My main takeaway from the SSH vulnerability announcement is that you should always acronym search when naming products, because it's really bad that Qualys has a product named "CSAM".
