we’re supposed to be the helpers, AND: you should still start by looking for the helpers… and then ask how you can pitch in. there are very few areas to help where someone isn’t helping already, and our efforts accomplish more when we work together. look for the helpers so you can join them.

Reminder from a Pittsburgher who was at one point Mr. Rogers neighbor: “Look for the helpers” was intended to be advice for his usual audience, children. We’re grown ups now. We’re supposed to be the helpers.

i never talk about befriending crows in interviews, but maybe i should because “look, if i can befriend these highly skeptical, suspicious little bastards, i can absolutely build trust with your engineers” is actually a pretty compelling argument
