sometimes politics gives people tools to understand the world and envision better possibilities for living together in mutual respect and harmony and sometimes it does the opposite
I feel like this happens a lot with internet discourse about urban living, and people who are more interested in analyzing other people’s behavior instead of managing their own.
Clean up after your dog and keep them on a leash! Don’t let them bother people who don’t want to be bothered! Don’t smoke on the subway! But don’t call the cops if someone is smoking on the subway cause that doesn’t actually help! Just be generally respectful and clean up after yourself! It’s fine!
Like we just got back from a walk where we met a woman who squealed like a child when she saw the dog, and said “I just love dogs so much. They make me so happy!” Literally lol
my political philosophy is that if someone is doing something that bothers you then you should talk to them about it like an adult and if you see someone who needs help you should try to help them if you can
Looking forward to the dog’s domination of the planet! 💥💥
P.S. Can we at least ask dogs to have cats as second in command? I am afraid otherwise we have an uprising at the door.
It’s also easy to read this in the other direction: ‘Dogs are colonizers without meaning to be or doing anything bad, so it’s okay if I’m a colonizer. It just happens.’
I feel like *in particular* progressive discourse has a life cycle where it goes from small-scale critical concept to wider social uptake, & as soon as that has positive impact it's taken over by the privileged (of various kinds) who sense opportunities to say they were the real victims all along.
Miniature or Giant?
I'm not big on mini schnauzers (my mom ADORES them), but a giant schnauzer would be a handful for a 10-year-old.
Then again, if you can handle a schnauzer at 10 years old, you can pretty much handle any dog when you grow up.
