If a student had gotten shot by that NYPD shitdick on accident, said shitdick would take a year of medical leave for the trauma and the student would be charged with emotionally damaging an officer

Good lord. Thank goodness nobody was hurt.

That is absolutely not known for sure. Many of the protesters were taken straight to the hospital and still others are in jail with no way to contact the outside world and have not been arraigned despite NY law stating that they must be within 24 hours.

Protesters were beaten mercilessly and even thrown down the stairs and refused medical attention for over an hour while unconscious. Protesters were absolutely severely injured and one very well may have been shot

The police have said that the gun went off while only other police officers were present, and that no one got hurt by it. And I'm sure the body cam footage that they recorded at the time will prove that version of events to be true. They do have the body cam footage available, right?

As far as I’m aware no body cam footage has been released and I think the responsible thing to do when it comes to cops is to assume the truth is whatever the opposite of what they say it is until proven otherwise

Especially since if they did have the footage, they'd likely have released it immediately to support their version of events. There's no way we'll have to wait several months only to find out that the footage has either been "lost", or that it contradicts their account of events.

Yea I try to follow independent on the ground journalists to get decent info and even then I try to get multiple people confirming stuff especially when it’s something like this. We simply don’t know one way or the other if someone got shot but many were injured severely for sure

I understand. I was following the student radio station and other sources, but I'm still trying to divest myself from the lifelong habit of trusting the New York Times. Sigh.
