Man i have been saying for a minute that voters everywhere are rejecting fascist shit and it’s only the media that makes us think otherwise, but it’s nice to see that in play right now

if you haven't read the brown article, it's a masterpiece of argumentation. you have to skip through the historiography bit to get to where it picks up.

And arguably what I am enjoying most is that this is not the hero theory of history. We’re not seeing a charismatic leader carry the election through rhetoric and force of personality. We’re seeing populations say: nope. I like the power of nope.

I blocked that motherfucker. I don’t need that kind of ignorant in my life.

Or unfixably ignorant. Are you a liar or a fool? Please let me know.

Imagine being nostalgic for 1994-2000 and 2010-2016 and thinking things were better with gop blocking everything. How we lost the courts. How we lost fighting climate change when it was easier. GTFO.

Big Mitch McConnell fan are you?

Yes, this. But also two weeks ago this outcome seemed unlikely. We have time. Not infinite time and our system is more unwieldy. But time.
Congrats to other country’s liberal coalitions for ever being able to get their shit in gear tell us what that’s like

good electoral news in england and france. nice to see in this era of far-right entrenchment.
JUST IN: Polls closed in France. Exit polls show surprise: —Left coalition (New Popular Front) projected first. (!) —Far-right (RN) has lost its bid to take power. Anti-RN front appears to have worked very well. —No bloc close to majority. Follow this 🧵 for results and more:

Your precious institutions are theoretically there, up until the point a clause or constitutional understanding about “emoluments” or “insurrection” become too inconvenient for their allegedly busy schedules and social lives

The robot is not a bargaining unit member and must not be given bargaining unit work. Faculty unions should be looking over their contracts right now, figuring out exactly how to grieve or otherwise oppose the introduction of these systems.

This thread, all of it.
Yes we have work to do on climate crisis & sustainable lifestyles, but do we really need orientalist takes on the "feudal" "ancient city" of Edo? Research on Japan's successes (and its many failings) in environmental sustainability was done by Totman decades ago. www.bbc.com/culture/arti...
What the Japanese Edo period can teach us about todaywww.bbc.com How a recycled garment made from tattered rags symbolises the ingenuity of what could have been one of the world's first large-scale ecological civilisations.
