I can already see the post comparing the NYT post-debate op-ed page and the post-election one full of every single person and group they’re pointing the finger at
That way they can say "At least we Did Something!"
Lol. No.
They will blame everyone else for waiting too long, or choosing wrong, or failing to hit Trump hard enough, or, or, or. If Biden or Harris loses it will probably be for reasons beyond their control, yet recriminations will *abound*.
my read of her 2010 performance is more “unusually good year for california republicans with an unusually strong slate of candidates” than “harris is uniquely terrible.” the evidence being her subsequent performance in statewide races.
After Biden’s speech last night about respecting the “institution” of the Supreme Court, I’ll take my chances with Harris over the guy who *definitely* is not equal to the moment.
Harris does not make my emoprog heart go pitter-pat, but at least she hit national politics after it was possible Republicans could be “partners” on anything worthwhile
Problem is "not uniquely bad" does not exclude "bad". Have you taken the time to watch her in front of a mic? It's uncanny valley shit - if AI is real it's powering this cyborg. That this also describes other bad candidates does not inspire confidence against trump.
She was running against the very popular incumbent of the largest and most diverse county in CA, in a GOP year, in a state with a GOP governor, and 2 years after Prop 8.
You might as well say gay marriage is threatened in CA in 2024 because of the success of Prop 8 in 2008.
And then we’ll hear about how we should have picked a Better Candidate but hey it’s not like we didn’t have four years to do this but are now cramming it at the eleventh hour like college students
It would be a classic example of giving voters what they’ve been asking for and getting a “but not like that” in response.
I still think she’d have a good shot at winning just by being decades younger than the competition
