These AI generated book ads on my Kindle lock screen are getting weirder and weirder. Like…you can’t even be bothered to put actual text on your AI generated cover? Who is this going to fool into buying the book? Where is the ad budget coming from?
When I worked at Amazon, I was on the team that generated those ads. There was human review on each one to avoid crap like that. Seems that got cut at some point, with entirely predictable results.
I don't understand any of the details of how this business works, but it's my assumption that publishers pay a certain amount for ad impressions. Presumably, Amazon or their agent holds an auctionand all the slots are sold. Whose interests could be served by offering something not actually for sale?
Jokes on you, that's a masterful literary fiction fantasy novel about someone in the dream world and the cover gloriously recreates that feeling of almost but not quite being able to read in dreams! haha jk that's an interesting fun idea and this is neither.
Part of many reasons why I have removed myself from the Kindle ecosystem, I don’t buy e-books from Amazon anymore, I buy them from Kobo and I have a Kobo reader, and everything is sideloaded. I love it.
