Psst: Project 2025 is terrifying for a lot of reasons but also because on page 5 it calls for teachers and librarians who grant access to books that are maligned as pornography (which just means anything LGBTQ) to be registered as sex offenders. Pass it on.

Not just that, it will give the government authority to remove any LGBTQ child from their home, where queerness is happening, to the government's hands, where they can be forcibly sent through conversion therapy. Accepting your child will retroactively become "abuse".

This should terrify people in terms of what it means not only for teachers and librarians, but for parents. Once exposure to queer content gets classified as child abuse, that will be the excuse they use to remove kids from queer homes, or even just homes that teach acceptance.

That alone tells you how normalized it's become for people to hot take some Current Drama or Situation they know nothing about. The "silence is complicity" thing can't work for everything because we can't know any and every situation deeply enough to form an opinion. "I'm not obliged to comment."

"I'm not obliged to say anything about any subject at all" has been an extremely freeing mantra. Said this in an interview once when asked about some drama or other: "I don't know enough about that to comment." It COMPLETELY took interviewer by surprise. She didn't know how to respond 🤣

Recent experience tells me people will be annoyed with me if I say something about a topic, or say nothing about a topic, or say an amount they find disagreeable, so I might as well keep my own counsel about what to say and when. If other people don't like it, that's fine, and also their problem.
