It takes 4 justices to take a case. This will delay Trump's trial until the summer/fall at least. I think it suggests Trump has 4 justices at least open to his total immunity claim. In the least, he definitely has 4 justices who are happy to block his trial from taking place before the election.

No, this is far worse. As someone that was absolutely floored by the Bush v Gore decision this is worlds worse.

2000 immunized me against being surprised by this, but it did not immunize me against being livid.

And just like Bush v. Gore, don't be surprised if they don't make up a bunch of rules to say "Of course the president isn't immune [because why would we give even a lame duck Biden immunity] but you can't proceed against Trump for this super special one-time-only reason."

Three of the 7 justices were heavily involved in 2020. They know what it takes to mess with elections.

At least in 2000 they took some actions to address the hanging chad. Somehow, it seems it seems like we’ll never take any action to truly fix the system that led to the fallout of 2020.
