My kids unspooled and then stacked the toilet paper in strips in the basket we keep on top of the tank for holding the full rolls. It’s got an artisanal feel, like homemade pappardelle. Very classy.

There's no legal basis for any of it. No constitutional text, no original public meaning, not even any reasonable basis in past precedents or having been validated by practice and acquiescence. Penumbras and emanations would be too kind. They just made it up and scarcely even pretended otherwise.

“You’re a lawyer! What does this mean, really?” Man, I don’t fucking know. In the last week an entire area of law I studied was more or less rendered entirely moot and now there’s one specific guy in the whole country who may be able to do anything he wants without recourse. This is kind of new.

They’re awful, but predictably awful.

It’s going to be a subtle rule the courts will need to apply to Trump’s charges and that will require appeal. Which is why they timed it to be last.
