At least 100 in DC today. That's four in a row 100-plus. Ties the lengthiest streak on record. #dcwx #hell

A salt-hag knows coves and cliffs. She knows where to harvest wind-bullied herbs and tide-tossed omens. The rough-wooed lips of the land are home to her magics. She merely needs to stand still to hear augury in gull cry, whispers from the waves. – #EmilyBanting, 1981 #Witchcraft

You can look at a burnt down house and say it's pointless and everything is terrible and give up. Or you start gathering stones and bricks and tools. And yeah, sometimes you can do both. I will always turn to the Arthur Ashe quote for help: Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.

"I no longer believe in the word mundane. It's a lie. Clever propaganda designed to make you forget that enchantment is a constant possibility. Nothing, not even mud, is truly mundane." - Katherine Gidding, Hookland artist, talking about 1957 painting 'Mud Embrace II'.

Today I'm really missing the Newseum and their display of newspaper front pages. The weather is perfect to ride down there and take it all in.

Walking up to the jukebox, downloading the 300mb jukebox app and giving it access to my contacts, making the minimum in-app purchase of $5 in credits, and spending $3 of those credits to hear Joan Jett sing about spending a dime on a jukebox sometime in the next 45 minutes.

We don't talk enough about the manners of magic. The import of asking permission before harvesting hedge or meadow. The need to thank swan for its gift of feathers for our cloaked workings. An ill-mannered witch devalues her relationships. – #EmilyBanting, 1982 #Witchcraft

The evenings begin to stretch, the evenings begin to swell. Moss Maidens sing the twilight. Fox Brides follow their hidden paths into the woods. We watch the greening of the land and feel the breath of its folklore against our neck. The year turns. Its magic soaks into us.

Y2K, the Ozone Hole, and Acid Rain should be constantly highlighted as models for successful coordination to solve a shared problem.
We learned the wrong lesson from Y2K. We should have learned that if we anticipate a crisis then coordinate and work hard, we can avert that crisis. Instead we learned, "why are these people freaking out? It's no big deal."

There isn’t even a reason for it as far as we know, and because the Moon is slowly receding from us it won’t be like this forever, it’s just a wonderful little joy that we get for our species
Guys, it is proper bananas that the size of the Moon and the distance to the Sun are so perfectly matched. It's one of the absolutely coolest things about the sky, and I say this as a person who discovers whole new planets.
