Obviously there are strategic reasons why Kamala Harris herself should not call for Biden to drop out before he does. As for other Democrats who privately admit they want Biden to drop out, but are too afraid that follow the brave ones who’ve said it in public: yes, their cowardice is helping Trump.

From my point of view, propping up a candidate who can’t communicate effectively sounds like working for Trump.

if Harris becomes the nominee, how is your long opposition to her replacing Biden going to help her win in November? It isn't.

And he'll do it again. Mind-boggling that everyone on here has convinced themselves this problem is just going to go away if we don't talk about it and pretend it doesn't exist.
Avatar
you've found me out, the reason I'm calling for Biden to step aside is because I want to lose in November. I'm just a dumbass I guess. Good work, detective!
Avatar
No, that's wrong. I'm furious with Biden right now but none of this takes away that he has accomplished a lot of good things as president. We don't need to trash his record to make the point that he's too old and ruining his good legacy by overstaying, like RBG or Dianne Feinstein.
Avatar
Ego, and ego. Biden is too old, visibly, obviously. A vast majority of Americans, and even a majority of Democrats, say he's too old. It's time to retire. Replacing is not complicated. All he has to do is release his delegates and endorse the person whose job it is to replace him: Kamala Harris.
Avatar
is there any point at which you would view this conversation as legitimate? what if biden had fallen asleep on stage? would you still be saying "you're not allowed to mention that, you're bashing our nominee!"?
Avatar
right. there doesn't need to be anything medically wrong with him, any specific diagnosis of anything. dude is too old. it's time to retire. everyone understands this about RBG and Dianne Feinstein, how they made the wrong choice to stay too long. idk why they can't see it with Biden.

I've avoided commenting on the Parkinson's stuff so far because still absorbing it and seems like the NYT will at some point have to respond to the idea that it was all about policy, but yes I have noticed all the jumping to conclusions.
Avatar
And like you said, the worst part of this is that after the convention, we will truly have no choice but to minimize/ignore/deny this problem, to just try not to talk about the obvious truth. Do we all really want to be put in that position?! Right now it's *not too late*. In September it will be.
Avatar
The less fun read of this poll is that a majority of Democrats aren't confident Biden should continue, and a large majority of independents aren't confident Biden should continue. Which is not a great position for an incumbent to be in, is it?
Avatar
It’s delusional to plan on Biden getting through this campaign without another time-stopping display of decline. But once he’s officially the nominee, there will be no choice but to continuously gaslight the public. That’s a winning Republican strategy, not Democrat strategy.
Avatar
This is the part I can't understand people being in denial about. If Biden shits the bed again like he did at that debate between now and the convention, it will actually save us because the momentum will finally be enough to push him out. The worst case is he shits the bed AFTER the convention.
Avatar
which is why it is crucial for us to pressure him to step down NOW while we are still not locked in.
Avatar
Avatar
yes, the Biden who is defiantly putting his ego above his country. that Biden. I'm pushing hard for him to drop out until either he does or he leaves the convention as the nominee. So are a bunch of other people. You can tell us to sit down and shut up all you want. But we saw what we saw.

her name is kamala harris. she is the vice president. it is her job to be ready to replace joe biden.
Avatar
and the "magic" is: biden releases his delegates and endorses her. she wins with no drama on the first ballot at the convention. not hard.
Avatar
sounds good, I'm not interested in debate! you bagged another one. :-)
Avatar
the question in the poll you and I were both just citing, and already discussed yesterday? "should Biden drop out." incredibly weird that you are playing dumb about this.
Avatar
I'm sure calling us bedwetters and pants pissers will convince us we're not seeing what we're seeing. great strategy. πŸ‘
Avatar
it's hilarious that you think this is relevant to what we were talking about. I myself would obviously vote for Joe Biden vs. Trump in November, I'm in that 86%. That's not the question.
Avatar
lol, thank you mr debate knower, for telling me the universe rules of debate say I am only allowed to advocate for "the most talked about solution." in that case, I respectfully withdraw. surely you will be able to find a better opponent who actually supports this "most talked about" solution
Avatar
you know my position, so I'm not sure why you're asking me to argue for a different position.
