The other thing is, this tactic literally has never worked even once, on the purely cynical grounds of political advantage its deployers think it will bring. Anyone that message appeals to will vote for the fascists and there will be no counterargument being put forth.

NYT being incredibly generous here by not reporting on the breathtaking transphobia in the same interview where he mentions how absurd the left wing program is by offering to “have a sex change at city hall”. Don’t scratch him too hard, you know what will bleed.

Watching the latest European elections, I keep thinking back to this essay: thebreakthrough.org/journal/no-1.... To the extent that the climate crisis is a migration crisis, it looks like a one-way eco-fascist ratchet.
