the experience of making bluesky has been like planning this elaborate fucking party with fireworks and a sick dance floor and ten different magic shows and then people walk in 6 hours early and go “nah this is good it sucks out there”
but seriously, I’m not a front-end dev and know nothing about React or Typescript or _anything_ , but I could still read through parts of the codebase that I was interested in and totally understand what’s going on. So well done 👏
Hey, I know the party hasn't officially started yet and we're already at the dancing-on-the-tables-with-lampshades-on-our-heads, but I got about a dozen friends waiting outside, is it cool if I let them in?
I am like 87 California stereotypes in jeans and a hoodie, but I’m also an Autistic person with an anxiety disorder and an early bedtime, so most of my friends invite me over to help set up for parties bc I like it, and it makes me feel not-guilty when I bail out due to sensory overload. 😅😅😅
The bar is in hell 😄
But seriously, ban nazis, white supremacists, & anyone who tries to make trans lives hell, and we will be patient on all the other features.
We just don't want our social media to feel like a constant onslaught from literal fascists.
We want to be able to enjoy our community without every step we take being monitored by people crafting systematic harassment campaigns. We just wanna socialize & network without worrying about nazis. A reasonable ask, I think 🙂🤞🏻🧠
I used to be a magician for like 15 years. 🎩🪄🐇
If Bluesky needs a magician I got you.
*and this wasn’t your uncles magic at thanksgiving, this was the real deal… floating people, cutting people in half, doves.
“Wait until you see the fire dancers!”
“Yeah, that’s cool, I’ll probably just be chilling in the corner but the fire dancer thing sounds rad. You guys have fun.”
It turns into a furry trans dance kink rave replete with ironic and nonironic Pepe costumes as I teleport in my teenage son
Awesome
Time to light the fireworks and order some cocaine off Uber Ears
The experience for us non-devs has been "I didn't realize this was a slick threads party, IDK how to work DJ gizmos, and I'm afraid of setting myself on fire with burning potassium, but I brought these yummy Buffalo wings and dip so I hope that's good enough to let me stay and call in a friend." 🥹
Tag yourself, I’m standing against the wall alone nervously nursing my first beer and anxiously checking the door to see if anyone else I know comes through it.
Speaking of dance floors, on the web whenever I accidently click outside of the post box, I lose what I typed. Is there a way to get a warning to confirm that's our intent. I've written the same post like 4 times after clicking outside by mistake.
