A police officer searched a classroom at a Massachusetts middle school for the novel “Gender Queer,” after receiving an anonymous complaint
The ACLU says they cannot recall any instances of police going to a school to search for a book
Oh cool. So MAGA losers in Great Barrington watch Newsmax and saw the coverage of fake redneck Sen Kennedy reading from the book.
Shame on the complete tool who complained and the police officer who violated everyone’s rights. #mapoli
oh sure, but thats about as "liberal" a place as you'll find in america. deep, deep blue city in a deep blue state. just a friendly reminder to my fellow new englanders that one cannot look at red states and think "so sad, can't happen here"
Libs are pulling this shit, too, showing their reactionary colors. White TERFs in particular are targeting black history and queer theory "for the children." People can vote all they want, but police still felt like they could get away with it. The 84% don't seem to inspire much temerity among cops.
There's the uncritical, reductive definition of "liberal" you get in grade school, one couched in European values and traditions, & then there's the definition you get with social and political context. You're definitely missing something if your sole political lens is "liberal versus conservative."
i live in the area and there are certainly a few MAGA people here and there, but it's been overwhelmingly seeded by retiring New Yorkers and the politics end up being liberal because of that
... and everyone else in the police department that approved carrying this out (that cop wasn't alone).
... and the principal for letting the cop pretend this was North Korea
1: Why the hell are the cops being called about this.
2: Why the hell are the cops RESPONDING to this call.
3: I know why, these questions are facetious.
So, the cops got a complaint about "obscene material" in the classroom & rather than asking the principal & the DA if there were any laws or policies being violated, just decided to drop in & ask if there were any dirty books on the premises?
