Costco’s new CFO confirms the price of its hot-dog-and-soda combo will stay at $1.50: “I want to confirm the $1.50 hot dog price is safe”
The price has remained unchanged since the item was added to menus in the mid-1980s

Forget the fries and chicken strips(!), Canadian Costco still offers Polish Sausage? And the hot dog picture doesn’t falsely advertise onions and relish that they stopped offering here years ago (along with the spicy mustard).
Yes they still offer polish sausage and all the condiments. Plus I see people refilling their drink cups. I don't know if that's a sneaky thing or if it's allowed.
Costco has one of the highest revenue per employee among the corporate world. If these guys can’t maintain their 1.50 hotdog, nobody can. Its like Arizona ice teas going to 1.25. You know it’s bad when arizona raises their price.
I grew up near Kirkland and would stop when passing by Costco in the late 80s just to pick up a hot dog. It was the best deal around for a poor teenager.
I’m always amused when people uncomfortably ask me what’s up w/all the S. Asian Am’s shopping @ Costco. Um we like delicious international food & deals. And now I want a hot dog.
Costco sells large quantities of staple goods for a lot of cultures' cuisines at good prices. Really head scratcher there. People are so weird sometimes.
I think it’s because they’re not used to seeing so many of us in one place but being raised w/more exposure in multicultural cuisines definitely plays into why Costco has a more mixed customer base across the board.
Ah that makes sense. I am originally from the SF Bay Area so I often notice the opposite - when places only have a monoculture present. Exposure to diversity or lack there of really does wire your brain in different ways.
I grew up w/a lot of exposure & used to notice the opposite as well but my in laws are mostly 4th & 5th generation Texan from a part of DFW that had very little diversity. Their experiences have helped me better understand how some decent people get caught up in fear but are also capable of change.
