I was sad to hear about the death of Evan Wright. He wrote a brilliant book about his time embedded with US troops in Iraq called Generation Kill. The HBO miniseries based on the book is fantastic too, worth watching if you haven’t seen it.

It’s true.

I’ve read that Republicans will “have to reconcile how this shooter came from within their ranks” so many times today and…. No. They won’t. They’ll lie, their people will believe them, and the media will amplify all of it. That’s how we got here.

I didn’t have those problems so it might have just been you. But yes I often pray for silence when watching US soccer coverage. I can deal with Darke and Donavan, and Holden isn’t bad. But everything else is terrible.

It’s like the difference between watching F1 with British commentators and watching IndyCar.

I had to close the Reddit app when I saw some of the conspiracy theories about the shooting yesterday. It’s all making my head hurt. Being prone to believing in conspiracies isn’t a right wing or left wing thing.

I learned at an engineering conference recently that one crypto mine in TX, 100s of MW, makes more money off ERCOT demand response markets than it does off crypto repeat: TX ratepayers pay them more to sometimes stop mining than they make by actual mining just bananas misuse of power markets 🔌💡
