100% and when people bitched about the A-listers doing that as "virtue signaling" you knew those people were unserious. That's how strong unions are supposed to work!
Glad to see this. Avoiding the strike because they get the majority of what they want is great.
Considering how they could absolutely WRECK the economy if their extremely justifiable and fair demands weren’t met, I’d fold like wet toilet paper too.
I love unions! I love unions! I love unions!
And if you ask me stupid shit like why do I care about them when I am not part of one I am throwing a brick at you.
Seeing anyone get a better deal makes me happy!
I remember from my days in film production the first rule of location shooting: Do not f**k with the Teamsters.
That was also the second rule. The third rule read "see rule number 1."
Back in the day, I was shooting a beauty biz commercial. We routinely hired famous hair and make-up. And paid two regular folks union scale to not show up.
But two teamsters wanted to protest the extremely common practice. They visited. Very scary.
I know they were asking for $25 for part-timers and got $21. Still, it seems like a very good starting pay hike should the Teamsters vote to ratify the contract.
Tbh I think it's because the teamsters are the second most powerful union in the US and when the UPS pilots struk in solidarity it was costing UPS billions a day and threatened to topple the entire supply chain.
Sadly general strike not realistic threat when less than half of labour is unionised
