“If a former president can be convicted for breaking the law then so can anyone” seems to me the entire ever-fucking point
Avatar
His position is that certain people should be exempt from certain crimes. [wink!]

i hate to respond non-snarkily, but i can't not think about the teenager who was in Rikers for like 13 months without charges for stealing a backback and later committed suicide.

Kalief Browder. I think about him often.

Imagine living in a world where the criminal justice system could punish you

Difficult for the Uber rich to grasp. They believe they should be exempt from laws.

Convicting Donald Trump for 34 felonies is a slippery slope to convicting regular rich white men for as little as one felony
Avatar
Regular poor men get convicted of much less all the time. The plutocrats sat themselves atop a greased up mountain and gorged themselves on greed. Eventually that excessive weight of stolen wages and cost of living price gouging deserves a ride down the slippery slope.

Love this. Smack dab in the middle of Reagan's trickle down poverty. We knew it was bad but we didn't know it would turn the really wealthy millionaires into Billionaires within 40 yrs. We had no idea how bad Reagan actually was.
To my knowledge and interpretation respectively with him also the era of organised #ChristianNationalism and #Dominionism started or lifted of. Albeit rather secretly and clandestinely - #NAR #NeoApostolicReformer movmt. See @brucewilson.bsky.social for detailed research.

Exactly, although Christian Nationalism has been a seed in the GOP since the Barry Goldwater days.

"Trivial matter"= rich guy crimes.
Ivory tower dweller

There you go, the reason I left twitter and the man who caused it. What an asshole!

Billionaires are moral failures and are a disease in our culture.

If the 1% vanished overnight the rest of us would carry on without even noticing. If the 99% vanished overnight the 1% would be dead within a month.

💯👍👍👍👍

The "trivial matter" (crime) was itself motivated by politics
Avatar
When you're Elon Musk, of course rich white guys with power should be left to do whatever the fuck they want to pillage, cheat, conspire and defraud others with no consequences. Justice prevailed, Elon, fuck all the way off.
Avatar
Leave it to the second richest man in the world to call "falsifying Business records" a "trivial matter". If it was "trivial" it wouldn't be a felony or even a misdemeanour for that matter. He's become the epitome of the plutocrat privilege.
Avatar
“Whomst among us isn’t at risk if committing fraud in an attempt to influence the outcome of an election is a crime?”
Avatar
“the woke have made crime illegal”
Avatar
Damage to the public faith in the justice system? More like relief that we've got fucking evidence of a pulse. Don't worry though, Elon, SCOTUS will muffle the sounds any minute.

Elon's not the brightest nor the best

he isn't even as good as mediocre

I can't believe at one point people were calling this jackass a real life Tony Stark 🤮
Avatar
He did market himself pretty well, we gotta admit that. He's the head of multiple sciencey-sounding companies, and he just kept his idiot mouth shut. Not a bad plan, to be honest. But then he started posting on Twitter. Whoops.
Avatar
He never really kept his idiot mouth shut, though. But I think a lot of the tech and business media sources are rather invested in the idea that tech billionaires are geniuses who earned it, so his worst nonsense was underplayed when you needed journalists to tell you about it.
Avatar
That's a good point. Most what I saw at the time was him looking "cool" by blowing a ton of smoke out of a joint. Man, so cool, so relatable
Avatar
Tony Stark Road a homemade hand built space suit into space, Elon Musk won't ride a factory built spaceship into space. I'm honestly amazed he has the courage to drive a Tesla.
Avatar
i doubt it's courage, more just ignorance. he isn't smart at all
Avatar
Oh, I think Elmo is terrified at the thought of riding a Dragon into space. I guarantee he won't ride a Starship into orbit, let alone to Mars. Of course, at this rate it looks like nobody is going to ride a Starship anywhere.
Avatar
His delusions of adequacy are far beyond anything he's actually capable of.
Avatar
That's exactly the point that bothers him. "*Anyone*? Even *me*? Outrageous!"
Avatar
Criminals are going to criminal Musky. You scared you’re next? I would be with all I know about you, your workers, violations, thefts, Tesla stock trades…. Hey! Maybe you and Trump can be cellies! I like the sound of that. Would mean justice is finally working again!
Avatar
I picture Trump being stuck with Rudy. Elon’s gonna have to bunk somewhere else like with SBF.
Avatar
If we’re lucky, he can bunk on Mars.

"Please don't look at all the alleged crimes I'm committing"

Elon just putting out there that he thinks falsifying business records is no big deal.
