We should attack transphobia head-on simply because it is a disgusting ideology, but if that's not enough for you, it's a system of control that stems from a patriarchal assumption about what a woman "should" be whose natural end is rigid gender roles upheld by state violence. Which seems bad!
the attacks on Ella Emhoff (as well as Lin Yu-ting and Imane Khalif) are part of what trans people have correctly warned about for a long time: the rise in transphobia will target cis women too.

Nature is amazing. Generative AI is full of lies. Trust nature -- the real thing.
Speaking of AI garbage, this is getting big views as a YouTube short. Even if you could have this cloud, the animation has the circulation sideways rather than up or down slope which is how it would be (but not cotton ball shaped). Image on right is my photo of a real roll cloud.

Just confirmed Gov. Newsom has vetoed SB 674, a bill to correct gaps in pollution monitoring near oil refineries. It's a blow to environmental justice groups working on this the last two years. The flaws were discussed in a 2022 report: earthjustice.org/feature/refi...

Hey Bluesky: Share more of what you love (less of what you hate) and we will build a richer, brighter ecosystem here:
If I could make a plea for BlueSky, it’s this: Please make a point of sharing links to articles, essays and more that you LOVE, that you enjoyed, that expanded you in some way. I’m always surprised by the dominance of hate-shares, complaint shares on here. And I think it has a riptide effect.

As covid cases spike, if you’re organizing events (teach-ins, rallies, etc.): Please consider adding a virtual option as well as adopting masking and testing policies for in-person attendance. Now is the time to demonstrate that disabled people are part of the movement too.

Libraries are so crazy. I can just put a "hold" on something? I can basically just wave my hand and tell them to get me a book, and then they get it for me? This must be what being a king feels like.

Soul-searching question for my communication comrades: is your email program building community or increasing spam and cynicism? #npcomms
REMINDER: If your campaign's engagement strategy is indistinguishable from commercial spam you are "poisoning the well" of grassroots support and actually undermining collective power-building. Being annoying does get people’s attention just not the type that leads to positive change. Please stop.

We don’t need any new laws or ID requirements for voting. There is no voting fraud problem in the US. The issue is simply a voter suppression scam cooked up by the GOP, relentlessly repeated with fake studies and op-eds, no matter how often it’s debunked. There is no reason for new restrictions.

The impending oversupply of green hydrogen makes it all the more infuriating that California’s low carbon fuel standard program allows fossil hydrogen sellers to greenwash their fossil fuels as “renewable” carbon negative fuel by buying bogus offsets.
