The Bellamy Salute was the official way to salute the US flag under Flag Code, 1892-1942 ... although I forget why we changed it in 1942? Photo is from 1915.

One vote doesn't mean much, which is why you should never vote alone. With minimal effort, you can double, triple, even multiply your vote by 10 by getting other people to the polls. Voting isn't a private act. It's an act of solidarity and it is intrinsically social.

March 23 1933, the Enabling Act becomes law in Germany, giving the chief executive power enforce his own laws without checks and balances. The passing of the Act marked the formal transition from democratic republic to totalitarian dictatorship. 6 months later, it was a 1 party state.

The American experiment was founded on rule of law. Presidents that commit crimes are not above the law. This Supreme Court has put Presidents above the law. That's because the Court is corrupt: the judges are selected and purchased by billionaires. Unpack the courts. @leahlitman.bsky.social:

Homeless people can be arrested for sleeping, Presidents cannot be arrested for rampant graft and corruption done while in office. There is no clearer a summary of "conservative 'law and order'" than this.

Sotomayor; Never in the history of our Republic has a President had reason to believe that he would be immune from criminal prosecution if he used the trappings of his office to violate the criminal law....With fear for our democracy, I dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/23p...

It's such a wild coincidence that the court legalized bribing public officials a few days ago and today says that every activity the US government regulates now goes through them
Chevron famously said, "Judges are not experts in the field, and are not part of either political branch of the Government." Today, Roberts and the other chaos agents on the court say: "Judges are the only experts in any field, and can dictate policy to either political branch of the Gov't"

If you don't understand the killing Chevron is simply a step in their war on the admin state, rather than an end, you are not paying attention.

After Gorsuch read extensively from his opinion, Sotomayor is reading from her dissent. "Sleep is a biological necessity," she begins, "not a crime."

Ok, I need everybody to read Section III-A of Alito's dissent in the Idaho abortion case. He says - explicitly and specifically - that in cases where the amniotic sac breaks before the 24th week of pregnancy, abortions should be prohibited. HE SPECIFICALLY NOTES THE DANGERS. He points out that...
Avatar
I'm going to send the Supreme Court a letter asking them to permit women to live through a difficult pregnancy for the sake of their already born children. I will also include ten bucks as that's what I leave for our mail carrier each year. Am I doing this right?

At last, here's the full text of the accidentally posted Supreme Court EMTALA opinion draft, via Bloomberg News assets.bwbx.io/documents/us...

More details out now via Bloomberg, though imo they should be embedding the document in the story. It's apparently a 6-3 ruling with Alito, Thomas, and Gorsuch dissenting. It would allow doctors in Idaho to provide emergency abortion *while litigation continues.*
Bloomberg reports that the EMTALA opinion was accidentally posted on the Supreme Court's website today and then removed. If that's indeed the final opinion the case will be dismissed and the lower court's ruling, allowing doctors to provide abortions in emergencies, will stand.

@cnni: The US Supreme Court seems poised to allow abortions in medical emergencies in Idaho, Bloomberg reports, citing a draft mistakenly posted on the court's website https://t.co/DSrxEtf2Or

Kavanaugh reassures his friends Alito and Thomas that nobody's allowed to be mad at them for taking bribes
The final SCOTUS decision today is Snyder v. US. Kavanaugh has the court's 6-3 decision on ideological grounds, holding that the Section 666 bribery statute does not apply to "gratuities" given for public officials' *past* acts. Jackson writes the liberals' dissent.
