Got my first haircut in Brooklyn yesterday, hole-in-the-wall down the street. Walk inside, Arabic guy — little English — is trimming a black guy’s elaborate style. It’s like this everywhere I go, people of all ages and backgrounds, just being themselves. I’ve never felt more American being here.

it feels like the whiteness of big political media spaces right now is having a big effect on how people are thinking about the debate. eg I have seen relatively little discussion of trump's "black jobs" comment, which immediately exploded on black twitter
