also and I feel like I buried the lede here: it calls for the people who CREATE queer media to be imprisoned. That'd be people like me. Or any other queer creator you love. Any queen who's been on drag race. Chappel Roan. Janelle Monae. Anyone who's made a piece of queer media. Imprisoned.
Psst: Project 2025 is terrifying for a lot of reasons but also because on page 5 it calls for teachers and librarians who grant access to books that are maligned as pornography (which just means anything LGBTQ) to be registered as sex offenders. Pass it on.

Well, *promising* to do space mining. Actual space travel and industry is really, really hard. The only reason SpaceX has gotten as far as it has is because the engineers there have built corporate structure to keep Elon and friends away from anything important.

Yeah, and if you invest too much in new capacity, you can enter a death spiral where you pay for the capacity by upping rates, which causes people to use less power, which means you have to up rates more, and they use even less power, etc, and then you go bankrupt.

It's why utilities are always so gung-ho about home insulation/sealing windows/planting shade trees and other power-efficiency boosting measures--even though it means people use less of their product, it saves them a lot of trouble in the long run.

somebody bring me adam wren's wallet, i guarantee you that i could take it out of his hands, waive it in front of his nose, hand it back to him, and then take it again, and he'd never connect any of it.

My bet is that he might not have even been politically motivated, but rather was just a notoriety-seeker like a lot of mass shooters are. What could make you more infamous than taking a shot at a former president?
Avatar
Well, word of mouth can do a lot. Also, ringing your rep and saying you're opposed to Vance's suggestion probably isn't a bad idea--anything that gets it on their radar. Might mobilize Dem politicians to speak out, and make GOP second guess allegiances.
Avatar
Well, I mean, Vance has unironically argued that no-fault divorce be banned. I can't imagine that's going to go over well with all but the most hardcore of hardcore evangelicals.

One of the things that I remember the most from Isabelle Wilkerson's _Caste_ was that one of the reasons that Black slaves became preferred to white indentured servants in colonial America was because it was harder for the latter to disappear into the community after escaping.

Really drove home the sheer banal practicality of evil, y'know?
Avatar
No, I actually don't know much about you at all, tbh. What I do think is that Carl and people like him annoy me, because they talk like revolutionaries but never seem to actually get around to *revolting*, in which case, what's the point?
Avatar
he looks awful and also the alt text here is worth it
this is the lamest shit i've ever seen SHOW US THE EAR
Avatar
I know you all aren't doing anything because you haven't overthrown the government, or, at the very least, established a viable, popular leftist party. All I've seen any of Carl and his ilk to his complain about the current status quo without actually doing anything to change it significantly.
Avatar
If you believe that we are living under a fascist regime, such that it doesn't matter if Trump or Biden gets elected, than you have a moral duty to attempt to overthrow that regime. Otherwise, you're just complicit, no matter how much you complain about it online.
Avatar
You can do plenty about it. If you earnestly believe that a revolution is necessary, go out and start one. If you don't believe that's possible, well, maybe you need to reconsider your strategies, like working through existing power structures.
Avatar
Yeah, but I haven't seen any of y'all actually *do* anything significant. If you feel more radical change is necessary--and you may be right--you should go out there and actually make it happen.
Avatar
(Well, I should be specific, I haven't seen Carl here, do anything. You could be legit walking the walk for all I know, and if so, more power to you)

if you are in Milwaukee and you are gay and on grindr you have the opportunity to change this country forever
i know grindr has to be going CRAZY in Milwaukee right now
Avatar
Also, if nothing else, we *need* at least 13 Supreme Justices, because they're supposed to oversee the appellate courts, and right now we have 13 of those and only 9 justices and it's causing a backlog in the legal system.

Oh, it turns out I figured out what to do with all of my anger! It’s a huge, free essay on whiteness and boundaries and why I spent all of yesterday bopping white liberal racism on the head. www.patreon.com/posts/108254...
I’m actually still very angry about this and I’m not sure how I’m going to deal with it, but absolutely none of my coping strategies will include bullying white marginalized people because I’m actually interested in progress

The tl;dr This is union-busting, written as a statute. A company union is not a union, it is a way for management to dilute/interfere with the power of the union. Company unions have been unlawful since 1935, because everyone recognizes it is an attempt to union bust. This is trying to undo that.
Not a populist: GOP VP candidate J.D. Vance introduced the Team Act (with Marco Rubio) to empower companies to establish and dissolve “employee involvement organizations” (a.k.a., company unions), a long-standing goal of GOP business leaders: www.rubio.senate.gov/wp-content/u...

as i keep saying, there's enough material in the project 2025 document to keep writers busy for months. here for example we have a proposal that a public health agency should 1) be very limited in its ability to make plicy recommendations 2) should concern itself with SAVING SOULS
According to the Republican Party Governing Blueprint, Project 2025, Public Health Should Be Worried About Saving Soulsmikethemadbiologist.com No mentions of demons however. Among the torrent of bullshit that is the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025–a blueprint for a second Trump administration–is this section on public health (pp.…

Someone here likened Project 2025 to the DNC email hack of 2016 because they both involve the slow drip of bad news for the party and, while that’s true, Project 2025 is so much worse. Read it now before they wise up and take it down: www.project2025.org
They have such winning ideas like “why don’t we charge people who want to know if that tornado is gonna hit their house.”

if you’re trying to engage with politically disconnected people about project 2025, identify a specific part that you think will resonate with them. i just told my friend who’s a public school teacher about the plan to abolish the department of education and that got her hooked.
