The crisis is in your own board room, of your own making. Now write as many articles about the GOP's Project 2025, Trump's criminal convictions, his incoherent ranting in his public speeches, and the whole Epstein pedophilia ring, not to mention the prospect of replacing the president with a king.

An absurd amount of plastic! I remember each evening putting the milk bottles out and using tokens to pay for them. If we are all taking our own shopping bags then why don't we take our own milk bottles? Pop them in a crate by the milk fridge and swap them for a full one.

genuinely hopeful sign that every big name GOP garbage monster is frantically trying to distance themselves from Project Say The Quiet Part Loud In an Easily-Digestible Bullet Point Format About Which There Can Be No Confusion. this means we should all absolutely continue never shutting up about it

Democrats need to stop talking about saving "democracy." They need to start talking about saving "freedom." That's what at stake here — Project 2025 *is* an anti-freedom agenda — and "freedom" is the political concept that most resonates with the majority of Americans.

When it comes to human welfare, it's not *aggregate* production that matters. What matters is ensuring people have access to the *specific goods and services* they require to live well.

Thanks everyone boosting this, about $1,400 has been raised from this Bluesky thread, and it cleared 40k and is headed toward the 50k goal. A shipping company is volunteering containers, and people are checking out what’s needed. We are helping directly.

the thing is, the richest country in the history of the world could absolutely afford to fund FEDERAL SANDWICH, forever, and then while we might not be the coolest country because there's other stuff too, in one way we would be the cool sandwich country
POSTAL BANKING is a great idea and it leads me to my other great idea: FEDERAL SANDWICH. Guaranteed access to a sandwich to anyone who wants one at ANY US Federal Govt facility. Let me explain. No, there is too much, let me sum up:

Ah! The invitation said “skulls will be provided by host.” This is apparently a reference to drinking from the skulls of your enemies. Several members of our party are playing a game with their plastic skulls. I am told this is an authentic ancient Finnish tradition invented five minutes ago.

Why I Don't Vote (OK, I Do Vote, but I Would Like to Discourage You, NY Times Reader, For Doing So For Some Reason) Via @bubbaprog.ilovecitr.us
Man, if it turns out that the right winger telling NY Times readers that they should follow his example and not vote did in fact vote in the last two elections, the Times should add this to the piece. Better than a retraction, since it illustrates a willful hypocrisy.

When an article says "some scientists think" then remember this: I, a scientist, once thought I could fit a whole orange in my mouth. I could, it turns out, get it in there, but I hadn't given sufficient thought to the reverse operation.

At this point what is too radical when the goal is to protect as many people as possible for as long as we can? When the alternative is clearly fascism?

Ultimately, people like Johnson and Bindel seek to undermine trans rights by flaunting misdeeds of allies in the mistaken belief that human rights should be awarded on the basis of celebrity endorsement, and believe the rest of the world agrees with them. It's my hope people see through this.

When colonialism was popular- Zionism was an openly colonial project, in order to cater to Christian Zionists it became less of a secular movement and one based in biblical “history” and most recently its tried this “we are indigenous” argument. But what it’s always been is settler colonialism.

It's not rocket science, or even politics, it's basic math Basic income is proven to reduce the costs of healthcare and crime When people have their basic needs met they get the breathing room they need to become the best version of themselves We need to take care of everyone
It's nuts, let's try making sure everyone has their basic needs met instead, maybe? Then they won't have to do crimes in the first place and we'll be able to cut police and prison services and save billions, all while helping people have a better life 🤷‍♀️

Why do we celebrate entrepreneurs for chasing passive income but condemn the idea of universal basic passive income as making people lazy? Both strategies aim for financial security without daily work. Let's normalize a financial floor for everyone, not just the investment-savvy with enough capital.
