#OTD On this day, 2020, mid-pandemic, I moved the kiddo back from college. Of course, I *had* to stop and get a photo / #geocache of the Jolly Green Giant statue in Blue Earth, MN.

If you see this, QT with a famous landmark you've seen The entrance pyramid of the Louvre was controversial, but I feel like it has stood the test of time.

#Eurovision is so weird, beautiful, hilarious, and amazing at the same time, and there's also drama. (Image: 2021 Eurovision Grand Final, Photo by EBU / Thomas Hanses)
The thing about Eurovision if you are an American and have never watched it is that it is really really really weird.

Little hack for following the news: 1) If there’s legislation or regulation that conservatives oppose, expect a lawsuit in the north district of Texas 2) If a story blows up on Fox/in conservative media, expect Jordan/Comer to launch an investigation.
And of course 10) they got sympathetic House Republicans to launch a Congressional investigation. Because the NPR Board didn’t cave, you see, they need another bite at the apple. And your tax dollars will pay for it. www.nytimes.com/2024/05/01/b...

🍽️In celebration of #Mexico's victory over the French at the #BattleofPuebla (1862), I made queso flameado, something we used enjoy (at #Ninfas) when I lived in Houston. Chorizo sausage, poblano pepper and Monterey jack served over a homemade #tortilla. I added avocado bits to smooth it out.

A general reminder—periodic cicadas pose no threat to anyone and their plant damage is limited to nipping off the ends of twigs. Please do not hose them with pesticide. They are slow and clumsy and confused and only want to make friends with other cicadas and die of sexual exhaustion.

🍽️Roasted zucchini, onion, garlic and paneer on farro with a lemon-parsley vinaigrette. (recipe in alt text). Also like the "deli lid" trick to half mini-tomatoes. I used a plastic lid from reusable containers. The recession holds the tomatoes in place while I slide the knife underneath.

I still think it's funny it takes the Post until the SEVENTEENTH PARAGRAPH to inform the reader these changes Apple is so gracefully implementing is due to a new Oregon right to repair law And even then, it never clearly informs the reader that Apple tried to have that law killed
