"The time is past" is wrong for one reason: Biden told us he was capable of this. People voted for him because they believed this.
They now feel he lied to them. That he betrayed them. And so something has to be done.
It’s such a perfect example of painting oneself into a corner. You’re exactly right, but the time for course correction has seemingly passed. I see no way he can maintain sufficient faculties for another 4 yrs, it’s now a faith that he can install “youth” to carry on the fight, if you will.
If you ask people to vote, you have to be able to show you're willing to do that bare fucking minimum. Total collapse in an election we're told is the most important in our lifetime just signals to people that you don't believe it.

As for the "too late" argument, you can tell it's bad faith because the rejoinder is so obvious: If Biden died today, would they replace him?

Basic stuff like “give Harris a lot more time in the spotlight” could have gone a long way
I feel like Dems are partially up a creek now becuase there’s no obvious choice to replace him with- Harris has been pretty low-profile and there’s not some other popular young up-and-coming star they can tap. Newsom is the closest and I don’t know how well-known he is outside CA.

He has been capable and continues to be. I'm sorry, but old and Gaza policy (which is just continuing 70 years of US foreign relations) are the only legitimate arguments against him. Best labor president, best climate president, best judicial appointment focus president in my lifetime.
His performance in NC yesterday was just fine.
The debate wasn't watched by that many people overall.
And every post debate poll had any movement well within the margin of error.
And it's June. Anyone who is still "undecided" won't be basing their vote on anything happening now.
I’m a 28 year old Biden voter. I don’t feel lied to. You do know that this was a debate hosted by CNN, for ratings, and not a job responsibility as president right? Biden doing a bad job at a debate doesn’t translate to whether he can be an effective president.
You acting like it does just makes me wonder how serious everyone is about the future. To me it doesn’t seem like the pundit class cares about what happens come November. The only danger to this country is Trump. Full stop.

I agree totally, we voted for him based on a number of promises, not least of which was that he only wanted a single term. My point re: passing time is that we let him slide from that for too long and, 4 mos from the election, have few options left to redirect that aren’t electoral suicide.
