WE ARE THE ONES WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR there is no daddy potus magic there is no special counsel daddy magic If someone is going to make change it is us. A sustained grassroots effort that lasts years. All of us. This is the only way out.
The response to "Can they do that?" is "Who's going to stop them?"

This couldn't be better timed, since folks are feeling demoralized. Hard as it may be to believe, but politics can be good for mental health. Authors Emily Amick and Sami Sage explain how in their new book. Check out my interview with Emily! www.salon.com/2024/07/09/p...

Once again: The actual POTUS doesn't do a lot. Who they (*groans* he) tap(s) for key staff jobs, however, is critical and winds up having a profound impact on policy and the running of this joint. The amount things don't fall apart matters. Project 2025 REALLY SOFA KING MATTERS, friends
I want to be clear that I'm not some huge Biden stan. He has been far better than I expected, but I don't ultimately care that much which Dem is in the White House in 2025, just so long as it's a Dem

There was lead in EVERY tampon they tested. There was less lead in organic tampons, but those had higher concentrations of arsenic. Also fun: It's 2024. This is the first ever study testing metals in tampons. Great. 🙃 www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/tox... Study: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Last Week Tonight made the most important point about Project 2025: it does for the entire administration what the Federalist Society did for his court picks. A Matrix download connecting how MAGA freaks will be efficient enough to execute a 1000-page playbook with Trump’s undeniable harm (Dobbs).

I think billboards highlighting each chapter of Project 2025 placed in specific locations. For example the chapter on gutting military benefits should have billboards on highways near big military bases. Plans for destroying Social Security have billboards all over in Arizona and Florida.

I will bang this drum forever: in THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE FREE: THE GERMANS, 1933-45 Milton Mayer interviewed 10 ordinary Germans after WW2 to learn how fascism took hold. There was never a moment when everyone woke up:
if you’re waiting for everyone around you to wake up, you’ll wait forever. this is how the people grinding our bones to make their bread WANT you to be. paralyzed, alienated & purposeless

The healthcare workforce shortage isn’t coming, it’s already here. There aren't enough healthcare workers in many sectors & regions, and too many of the ones who are left are sick of bad work conditions. And the consequences? As of today, 83 million Americans don't even have access to primary care.

Lab leak is comforting because it's easy to have someone to blame and it's easy to say, well we won't do THAT again. The reality that this is likely going to happen again because of climate change and encroaching on ecosystems is discomforting.
