Yallllll! I think I beat the rats!! It’s been 6 days and no more rodent damage. They were absolutely destroying my tomatoes before this. So easy and zero poison.
While the groundhogs have struck at the community garden, rats have built a nest under my tall raised beds. So I’m trying suffocating them with dry ice. They dug up 3’ feet to provide 2 entrances right at my tomato plants.

TIL, that when a Bangladeshi father invites your daughter over for a kids birthday party, you have to stay and eat so much food.

Soo … groundhogs 1 Me 0 The cages apparently have to be staked down. I got one, but it flipped it over and got out. Also ate all the bait……

Concords did surprisingly well this year. Don’t recommend growing them in the south. 🌱 in the north, this entire bunch would ripen at once.

An examination of more than 1,200 federal judges and state supreme court justices turned up dozens of judges who chose not to recuse when facing potential appearances of impropriety involving familial financial connections. www.propublica.org/article/judg...

While we’re talking about the crazy era of nuclear ideas. Here is one that was really used. Russia used a NUCLEAR BOMB to put out a gas well fire and yes it “worked”. In all fairness, it burned for 3 years before they tried it. interestingengineering.com/science/sovi...
The 1950's were a wild time for nuclear technology, but no project has captured my imagination like the Convair X-6, an experimental nuclear aircraft. I think we can all agree that it's a terrible idea with amazing potential: air travel without fuel, with no limit on range or distance traveled.
Soviet Engineers Detonated a Nuke Miles Underground to Put Out a Gas Well Fireinterestingengineering.com They drilled a hole 1.4 kilometers deep, put a nuke inside, and detonated it.

Oh by the way, this a great time to read writers with roots in Appalachia who aren't J. D. Vance. I grew in North Carolina, my novel concerns New Orleans, Alabama, & Atlanta, but it's a way better read for y'all than HILLBILLY ELLEGY. Get it from my neighborhood bookstore here. Y'all welcome.
