Okay, one of the kids and I are heading up a few miles to try out the Tesla supercharger with our new NACS-CCS adaptor. 🤞 Also, with electricity being 9 cents per kilowatt at my house, I'm estimating $20-30/mth of 'gas' costs, which is down a TON from monthly gas budget. Car covers its payment.

In 2006, my first book had tens of competitors the month it came out. Soon, hundreds when a new book came out. Then thousands. With AI and indy publishing, it's likely tens of thousands of titles competing with a readership the same size. It's a loud market these days.

Look, my mom's British and raised me to never broadcast what I was up to. I mostly got into blogging and posting on social because it was a way to just think out loud with ADHD, I've read recently that ADHD folk love oversharing, and I fall right into that with the author persona and ADHD

I actually analyzed my last few year’s of trips in cars, and only a couple ever left this entire circle of the Kona Electric’s range:

A buddy needed some documents in a hurry, but is 150 miles away, so the family decided to take Atilla the Hyundai out for his first extended road trip as an electric. The 239 mile range is accurate. We stopped at an Ann Arbor shopping center to browse a little as it recharges a little.

We don’t have a journalist cadre in the US anymore, we have click-chasing entertainment business that happen to have journalists working for them. SEO dominates *everything* now. The only reason NYT even ran the anti-Trump editorial was to try to staunch the subscriber losses.

They believe this b/c, they're not wrong. They'll still have champagne and caviar gatherings with power. Even as Germany was being bombed their industrialists still enjoyed being a protected class. Same would be true of Trump fascist government. They literally could give a shit about our fates.

This is the fundamental problem. The rich, white, old men in charge of all the media outlets honestly, deeply believe that there is no difference between the two candidates. And fundamentally, that is so at odds with reality that it is destroying the ability of news to at all educate or inform.

But, this also gives you tools. Cancel subs, call on people to cancel, and call on people to drop news from their cable packages. Start calling en masse, in a way that hits their bottom line, and they'll panic. Look, just a 5% drop in profit in a quarter will cause extreme panic. Now is the time.

News is fundamentally an entertainment industry now, and it's masters are quarterly capitalists who are MBAs and only care about quarterly profits. If it means the populace no longer live in a democracy that's sad, but they can still pursue rewriting press releases sent to them as a living.

I'm in the second half of a story I owe that's... I can't even describe how overdue. But now that I've gotten some summer rest, I am slowly putting down words. 50-100/day last month, now hitting 200. I'm trying not to view it like a battle with Long Covid, that's negative language. But... yeah.

Yeah the rich are really putting pressure on him to drop out, not just her...but you can tell they're funding a ton of op-ed stories being published in places like the New Yorker, etc all saying the same thing- he should drop out. Come on, it's very obvious what they are trying to do
