Ah. Jolly good then. My sarcasm detector ain't what it used to be.
I was all like "People are regularly being doxxed and their families' lives threatened over political theater, and THIS is bullying?"
I don’t mean to dunk on you, but “bullying works” is a pretty old and common trope about people giving enough negative feedback to a post from a brand or media outlet to make them change their story to something that more accurately reflects a situation. We are bullying the brand.
Still super passive voice, still giving validity to the charge of “dei hire”. How about “racist twats use the tragedy of a boat wrecking a bridge to attack a black Mayor”
They worded their post awkwardly. They're saying the original post used the emphemism "DEI" and they replaced THAT headline with the full truth at the top that the mayor is dealing with racist attacks.
You still as an institution habitually rehabilitate racist viewpoints by presenting them as legitimate claims that warrant serious consideration
The “DEI” claims here were absurd racism on their face. One of the biggest ships in the world hit a bridge, there’s no basis to give air to the racists
thank you. do better next time; there’s literally zero explanation or excuse for using the term “diversity hire” for a DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED OFFICIAL even if it wasn’t pure racism (which it of course was.) it’s like you called ice cream a cement block. it makes absolutely no fucking sense.
diversity hire? who hired the mayor??? we should fire them!
oh wait *checks notes* he was democratically elected like every other politician? wow gee
it's almost like… you're "privileging the lie" in your headlines
The headline is much better, but the article itself never says directly that this attack is utter nonsense. The only real push-back is pointing out that public officials are elected not hired. I mean, that's true, but the real point is that DEI had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the collapse.
Much clearer, thanks.
I would also have understood "DEI hire" -- that seems to be the crux of the racist innuendo, a trope many of us have learned to decode.
