In 2002 Ann Coulter said “My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building.” Weird how the American Conservative tradition eventually embraced a fascistic leader like Donald Trump, eh? observer.com/2002/08/coul...
Coultergeistobserver.com Ann Coulter, author of the No. 1 best-selling nonfiction book in America—Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right, a small book coruscating with giddy bile—was 20 minutes late to …

Lmao they just changed the title of the piece from “Why I don’t vote” to “Why I won’t vote” rather than tell readers that the guy actually does vote

I mean, maybe there is another Matthew Walther in Three Rivers, Michigan (pop, 7,905) *also born in 1990* (via @kendrawrites.bsky.social). (Seriously tho, the NYT should amend the article to note that this guy does, in fact, vote).

Fucking unbelievable that the big publications are running with this as the lead story after the Supreme Court just promised to install a convicted felon rapist insurrectionist as Emperor for Life.
IMO this is a straight-up ageist and ableist image, no?

1. The guy who wrote the "don't vote" essay says we're obligated as Americans to root for the Michigan Wolverines www.nytimes.com/2022/12/08/o... 2. he lives in 3 Rivers, MI & says your vote doesn't matter "even in municipal races." I found EIGHT elections in the past 10y decided by 1 vote there

Suprise: unwashed fascist ghoul Matthew Walther - who wrote a column that the New York Times just published advising Americans not to vote - did in fact vote in 2020 and 2022. It’s time for us to stop tolerating these ratfucking liars.

People really need to give up the idea that politicians have the power to 'sell' their actions to the public. Regardless of what he says, Biden's message will be filtered through the media and boiled down into horse-race headlines. It will be *very* obvious he's stepping aside after a bad debate.
I think Biden could easily sell stepping aside. "I have served my country for 52 years. As many Americans know first hand, it is hard to admit when you've slowed down." Then talk about spending time w/ grandchildren, efforts best spent fulfilling elected duties, VP Harris is well-prepared, I endorse

It’s a very obscure question but I did some research and it turns out that the president who led us out of the Depression and kicked Hitler’s ass was actually in a wheelchair? Who knew?
Kevin, I am not a historian, so IDK, but has there ever been a President in American History who used a mobility aid? And, if so, would you say this president who was so weak as to need, say, braces or a wheelchair, is considered to be one of the top President’s ever?

Also for context, here's a screenshot of the second post in the thread, which I'm also going to delete to avoid sending that site traffic.

Folks have noted that including links rewards the NYT with traffic for running this article. They're right! So I'm going to delete the first post in this thread - here it is as a screenshot for context.

On INDEPENDENCE DAY they published this. ON THE FOURTH OF JULY 2024 THE NEW YORK TIMES TOLD PEOPLE NOT TO VOTE. I'm furious.

NO KINGS. That's the bare minimum these days. NO KINGS. NO KINGS. NO KINGS.

Imagine for one second if the NYT marshaled its massive influence towards voter registration, towards supporting voting rights groups, towards encouraging people to vote and fighting people who try to stop people from voting. Imagine if the NYT actually championed participatory democracy.

The NYT also allowed him to exclude his partisan inclinations. From the 2018 piece: "In a bland way I hope to see Republicans control various state and national offices. This arises from a single issue: the legality of abortion."

More anti-democratic thoughts from 2018 the NYT allowed this writer to exclude from his current piece. Delivered with an air of detached irony, as if he miiight be joking or exaggerating. But is he?

I am 100% serious when I say that the only way to determine this is if the writer of this article is keelhauled. It is the only way. If he floats you vote. If he sinks, you say a hail mary and then vote.

Headline should read "Opinion | Why You Will Be Better Off When You No Longer Get To Vote"

very much the words of a man who has never once worried, not for a moment, that he would be outside the law

He voted in both 2020 and 2022.

Man, if it turns out that the right winger telling NY Times readers that they should follow his example and not vote did in fact vote in the last two elections, the Times should add this to the piece. Better than a retraction, since it illustrates a willful hypocrisy.

Oh you know he votes, and the people in his circle vote. It's just the rest of us that need to sit this out.

to be fair, this guy edits a conservative Catholic journal whose first issue in 2020 had an article by JD Vance so I'm cool with him not voting
