What does it mean to privately call for Biden to step down? I’ve privately called for a second season of Firefly but I don’t have my hopes up.

I’m still not a big fan of this type of journalism, but it’s nice to see it being practiced somewhere other than a white diner.
“Among eight Mount Airy congregation members interviewed, none thought Biden should concede the nomination to another member of the party.
“I think it’s a little late in the game for them to start switching people out,” said Danayah Randolph, 21, of Philadelphia.”
Should Biden drop out? What his supporters said at a Philadelphia Black Church where he campaigned Sunday.www.mcall.com Here’s what supporters of President Joe Biden had to say about the increasing calls for him to end his re-election bid.

In fairness it’s hard to break through the “old person is old” news cycle
In a normal campaign, this would have dominated the weekend’s news. I wrote about @gregsargent.bsky.social’s scoop about the Christian nationalist GOP nominee for NC Gov calling for murder of his political enemies: ‘Some folks need killing’: www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...
Opinion | ‘Some folks need killing’: North Carolina Lt. Gov takes Christian nationalism to dangerous lowwww.msnbc.com Mark Robinson’s newly explicit calls for killing perceived enemies show how seamlessly Christian nationalists can glide into promoting real violence.

If only the Democratic Party had some sort of, I don’t know, national committee that could deliberate and make decisions without needing to resort to the world’s shittiest reality show.

Read Ezra Klein's latest on a "mini-primary" to replace Biden. It's not as terrible as many of his colleagues' takes, but 2 notes: 1: He takes as given that Biden is incapacitated. Maybe so; but Klein's MD is not in evidence. 2: It ignores the huge practical obstacles to anyone but Harris...1/

Just a reminder that Michelle Wolf nailed it at the White House Correspondents Dinner. NYT, I’m looking in your direction especially.

It's like Gargamel saying, "I completely disavow this Smurf cookbook put together by all my closest associates."
My guess is that Trump knows very little about P25 *and* it will be the blueprint for his administration. He’s famously bored by policy. He’ll appoint these people because they’re loyal. They’ll then go to work on the plan while he grifts, golfs, and gives two-hour speeches at rallies.

I have no idea the best path re Biden but I do know a solid week straight of “Biden Old” and “Rich Dems Worried” above-the-fold stories are *obscene* in the face of SCOTUS using the Constitution to wipe their asses purely in the service of reinstating a felon rapist as president. Crazy-making shit.

It would seem that the two candidates for office are Biden (D) and Biden’s Age (R)
Can someone tell me where NYT hid Trump's attempts to disown Heritage's fascist project? I mean, holy hell, that's the only reporting on Trump they do anymore?

The way in which the Biden freak out makes sense is that presidents with shaky reelection prospects often face challenges from within their party (Ford, Carter, Bush Sr, etc). Dems mostly protected Biden from that last year but the motivations remained.

if the media could go ahead and treat this claim the way they treat Biden saying "I'm fine" - aka, as a lie that requires days on end of front page stories to debunk - that would be great we'll be over here waiting
Trump is trying to get ahead of the reality that he and the heritage foundation are working to destroy America and institute a fascist dictatorship. He is lying and expecting the media to gaslight America for him.
