I am also an agnostic who’s pretty convinced that Trump is the actual Antichrist at this point - or at least the type of figure that humanity came up with the term “Antichrist” to describe.
I am not a religious man and specifically think evangelical mythology is funny as shit, but at some point I have to question my priors and consider he is the actual antichrist. They do believe this figure will pull the wool over the eyes of the gullible and lead people away from their jesus.

Psst: Project 2025 is terrifying for a lot of reasons but also because on page 5 it calls for teachers and librarians who grant access to books that are maligned as pornography (which just means anything LGBTQ) to be registered as sex offenders. Pass it on.

Anyone in the Boston area looking for a lab tech? I've got a ✨stellar✨ undergrad who graduated & is looking for a lab position (industry or academia). Strong background in microbio, molecular & cell bio. Was in my lab for 3yrs, including 2 summers, and did an REU and an internship. 1/2

My mom just sent me a picture of the waterfall inside Union Station in Toronto. Aka: the stairs inside Union Station leading to the trains. Aka: not actually a water feature, but is a death trap today because of flash-flooding. They left the building when the flooding got worse, so this “isn’t bad”

When I read The Book of Laughter and Forgetting as a young man, I didn't understand the line “The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting” but I do now. Fuck, do I ever.

Ellie asks if the core grant I’m working on will pay for kibble. Not your kibble, Ellie. Other’s kibble. Core module directors don’t receive compensation for their labor which feels an awful lot like service. Academics do a lot of unpaid service. This is another case of that.

In Florida, the Department of Education has declared it a month for patriotism--"Freedom Summer"-- & said that to impart to students "a sense of American pride," you should have them read Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I'm not making this up. I wish I were. www.fldoe.org/newsroom/lat...

this is why I got so volatile talking about the meritocratic myth successful people spout all the time. what about folks who do everything we're all told to do: got the education, dedicated years to work and/or family, took chances, learned from failures & setbacks, but still can't just survive?
Ugh Just explained to someone today I'm in emergency mode and self care is 4th behind 3 things I have no choice but to put ahead of me to survive. I see a way out, but it seems no matter how hard I work, it's always just at the horizon, never closer.

Is it bad when the VP pick’s hometown paper (owned by high profile GOPers) publishes an anti-Vance op-ed within an hour of learning he is Trump’s running mate? Because that doesn’t seem good.
Vance will hurt Trump's reelection chances. Ohio junior senator isn't ready to be VP.www.dispatch.com Opinion: Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance probably will not help former President Donald Trump win – and might cost him votes.

It’s a complete repudiation of the idea that Trump has changed or is interested in unity.
Trump’s VP pick … — demanded the DOJ open a criminal investigation of a journalist for “insurrection” over an op-ed critical of Trump — spouted replacement theory garbage — called for criminal prosecutions of other Trump critics — blamed Biden for Trump shooting — called for Biden’s prosecution
