“The order gives individuals a year’s supply of three types of birth control: pills, vaginal rings and patches. It also applies to people who travel to New York from other states.”
Yes! You too can have your over-the-counter birth control medications rifled through by the NY National Guard in the Subway system. One hand gives, the other goes through your shit with an AR slung over its shoulder
A lot of countries have prescriptions needed for birth control. This isn't even one of those many cases where the US is singularly inhumane. The poster is just being an uneducated cunt for no reason
Yeah, I used to work for a Baptist college and I couldn’t get birth control at all—because it’s against my employer’s religion—without driving 120 miles to Planned Parenthood. I was using it for PMS and endometriosis.
At that point, I could drive 120 miles for refills or pay $80 a month in town.
If you don't know how f'ed our healthcare system is by now, you're either ignorant or you do know and you're just making this comment to act superior. It's not cute.
Yeah. Over here in Germany it's also by prescription and not covered by my insurance. Which is not to minimise US issues with access but more to say the NY change is very very very cool
The thing I remember from my first attempts to receive BC, as a teen in WI, was the attention they put to checking vascular and heart health - and that was constant in the decades I took it.
I didn't feel *that* as the hurdle to clear; it was the pharmacist-gatekeeper that could be a problem.
Yeah we have a pretty good program here it’s available for free now
But you still need a prescription
At least you can get one from a pharmacist now but it seems unnecessary
I'm not sure but the barriers for access are still really high if you need a prescription you have to have a doctor, a way to pay that doctor, a way to afford health insurance, etc etc etc
SOURCE: Me & my prescription costs lol but no it’s not 100% covered under every insurance plan in the US.
My current Rx plan does cover it 100%, my last Rx plan covered nearly all so I had maybe $3 max to pay. If we hit our deductible I think it dropped to $0.50.
