Furries who AREN’T rich or in tech fields, sound off! I’m currently unemployed and have been in and out of various shit jobs my entire life. Due to some particularly bad treatment from a manager at one of my former workplaces I now have trouble not feeling anxious and depressed at work.

Too many see the world as Them vs. Me. In reality, it is only We. It has always been Us, together. The sooner humankind acts like we all have skin in the game for long term survival and thriving, the better our chances of warding off the worst dystopia.

I relate to this feeling more than you even know. It’s not as if I am so depressed I can’t appreciate the good things in life. It just feels like the bad things are more present. Most of us are spending so much time and energy just trying to get by that we don’t have any left to just enjoy life.

I like life. I like being creative, I like going to interesting places, I like nature. Ideally I want a long enough life to fit all the things I want to see and do in. Yet half of me just feels utterly hopeless about the world in a way that feels impossible to reconcile with the good bits

"You wouldn't use air conditioning if you care about the environment" is just the new "You'd recycle your plastic if you cared about the environment." Both purposely default to individual responsibility as the cure when the real issue is industries & companies. It's. a. distraction. It always is.

There absolutely is this pervasive global idea that Air Conditioning Is The Sworn Enemy of Being Green (in a way that we don’t tend to think about heating), and this is dangerous and bad. Providing cooling that uses less energy is great, but forcing people to go without entirely? Not so much.

What is it about deer characters that just give off that transgender/non-binary vibe? Not that it’s a bad thing. Just something I’ve observed.

We make jokes about how dystopia is a lot more boring in reality than all the books we had to read in high school made it out to be. I think what we're forgetting is that the part we're in now - where the characters might have stopped it & didn't - is the backstory of these books, not the story.

The absolutely wild thing is: This goes for ALL social aid. Just *giving people some fucking money,* literally going "OK, how much did you need?", cutting checks, and waving them out the door? COSTS LESS and HAS BETTER OUTCOMES than the current system's bureaucracy and means testing, EVERY TIME.
