hearing that we're not supposed to be promoting our stuff on here? seen a couple of posts disparaging that practice. still have no idea what this place is about, what is ok to post or not post, feeling like i'm dog paddling here
...Those folks are not welcome on my timeline. I want to see all the cool stuff people are working on and be bathed in their enthusiasm. Anyone who gets in the way of that can kick rocks.
Who actually said it? I completely missed it! Does BlueSky have actual staff? If so why aren't they improving the platform 🤔. I have so many questions 😂
post whatever you want and do not let nerds tell you that you have to behave differently here. they don't have to follow you if they don't like how you do things
Point me to anyone who says “don’t self-promo” and I’ll rip them a new one. Fuck that.
People gotta eat and pay their bills. Self-promo whatever you feel comfortable sharing. Normalize surviving and thriving.
Yeah, that's weird. Heard it a lot on Twitter too. If we're creatives, we're small business owners and there's nothing wrong with doing so. People are free to look or ignore as they see fit.
Post & promote whatever the hell you want.
Any asshat tries to disparage you from doing so, block them instantly.
They are not worth the waste of your time.
Anyone telling you not to promote your stuff can give an obsidian mountain a handy.
We want to see it and you deserve to have an avenue to be discovered.
post whatever you want as long as it isn't illegal and don't let the haters bring you down (block and mute). people have the ability to ignore things they don't want to see and should practice that ability frequently.
The first time I ever used pinterest I posted a picture of McLovin taking a huge bong rip, and some lady replied "I don't think this belongs on pinterest" and I replied "I'm pinterested in this" and that was the end of it
Welp I just fled the site where a person posting CSAM was reinstated because the owner likes him so honestly a palate cleanser would be delightful. Please promote your stuff!
do not listen to the weirdos who try to boss you around; that is intensely strange and inappropriate imo. there is no such thing as "ok to post" when it comes to this. i like your newsletter and like hearing about it.
Everyone should promote what they want to promote and everyone should curate their feeds to show them what they want to see. Any mall cops that say no one should promote need to tighten up their own curation and shut their mouths.
I saw similar on Mastodon. Ignore them. Post what you want/what you want to make of this place (as long as it follows whatever *actual* platform rules there are).
There was, on Mastodon, a historical reason that dates back to the founding or purpose of Mastodon intending to keep brands or selling off there. But it’s not the same here from what I can tell.
I saw a kerfuffle a few months ago, as artisans & small makers ran into opposition from self-appointed police. Then there was a backlash against the self-appointed police. It seems to have calmed down, and I see posts about taking commissions etc. there (still seeing self appointed police though).
People were doing that on twitter to help sustain making a living and that was basically stamped out by that dipshit so why would that be frowned upon? And who the hell is policing that?
