I feel like "vote for me for President and I will pass a Constitutional amendment preventing Presidents from becoming God-Kings, unlike my opponent, who wants to be a God-King" is a pretty winning electoral message to be honest.
Like the OP, I really enjoyed it up until the final act.
But it's a visual treat. If you like 80s neon sleaze and grit you're going to get plenty of it.
The soundtrack is killer too.
"but the polls" "but nobody has ever won with" blah blah blah, there's time, and nobody in modern history has ever had to run against such a deranged view of what America will become. It's winnable. Pack up the pity party; off to work we go.
I can't remember which one it was but one of the polls people were using to show a post debate slide, had a shift of 15 points in Colorado just since 2022.
I'm not a fan of "polls are all wrong" but yeah, a poll showing a double digit change in CO is wrong.
every day I feel like I'm losing my mind as people look at a statistically tied race where one guy is a felon with deeply unpopular positions who ALREADY LOST THIS EXACT RACE and are like "he is 100% for sure going to win"
JFC, Trump may win in November but it's not going to be because he got nicked in the ear four months earlier. I know catastrophist nonsense is how Democrats do foreplay, but this kind of insta-take is almost always wrong and definitely always useless.
This’ll never make me a regular on msnbc, but people should be ashamed to admit they support Trump. He is a hideously bad person proposing to enact a vast expansion of cruelty and human suffering. The erosion and collapse of social sanctions for supporting someone so indecent is a big problem.
JD Vance is particularly odious to me because we’re roughly the same age and from the same part of Ohio and I grew up with a hundred pasty, squishy faced white dudes like him & they’re all convinced they’re marginalized because you can’t smoke at Waffle House or say the n-word anymore
Thinking fondly of all the liberals who gave Hillbilly Elegy glowing reviews and otherwise legitimized someone who was always very clearly a reactionary shapeshifter
The analogy I have long used is that a Democrat and a Republican show up to a chess match. The Republican throws the Democrat to the ground and starts beating the tar out of the Democrat with the board.
The Democrat says "Ah ha! I have you now for that is an illegal move!"
I got invited to the premiere of Pee Wee's Big Holiday and Paul Reubens did a Q&A. He was asked if he had trouble getting back into the character after so long. He laughed and explained that he was Pee Wee and Paul Reubens was the character he had to put on.
A senior House Democrat says efforts to replace Biden at the top of the ticket have stopped because, “We've all resigned ourselves to a second Trump presidency."
Richard Simmons and Dr. Ruth were unapologetically themselves despite endless scrutiny. They both brought joy, knowledge, and light to countless folks.
It’s heartbreaking to lose them both today while the cockroach felon lives on.
