oh no katie I’m so sorry call your doctor for paxlovid and if they can’t help you can probably get a prescription through an urgent care it has been helpful for us including when my wife got it very recently

Yes. It is good, get it. Yes, sometimes symptoms can return, because COVID is a bitch. Paxlovid isn't a cure, it helps lessen the symptoms and greatly helps you avoid long covid.

fwiw i’ve had covid five or six times now (😬) and im team paxlovid all the way. this past time i was barely positive, the line was almost invisible, and i still got on it. no major complaints (the taste is a thing but i find it easily bearable)

if you have a pcp you should be able to call them and tell them you tested positive and they’ll take care of it from there, that’s the way i did it both times. a pharmacist can also prescribe it directly though they tend to charge another $50 or so for the pleasure

yep, that plus pepcid, though the write-up notes that you might want to switch to zyrtec or allegra within the next few days so you won’t get a benadryl headache.

Lots of good data in the replies already, but chiming in to say I’ve had Covid twice, my immune system is garbage, and both times paxlovid was really helpful.

It can really help afaik, haven’t taken it but doctor friend recommends and I know people who’ve taken it

With my negative immune system I didn’t even get a rebound infection. If you don’t want to risk it, don’t, cause the taste is 8 hours of chewing a steel wool sponge, no matter what you do, so if you aren’t sure you’ll stop taking it anyway. But it can definitely help

The rebound infection isn't a new infection, it's that Paxlovid probably should be a longer treatment and doesn't fully eradicate the virus. If you are having respiratory symptoms it's worth it for sure. If not? Not sure.
