When you decide you're going to become an Indie author, you quickly discover you'll need to wear multiple hats or be willing to pay someone else to wear them. Published authors, are you indie, trad, or hybrid? Why did you choose that? I'd love to know. #authors #writing #publishing

anyway, bluesky is absolutely not ready and not prepared for the flood of authoritarian-funded trolls that are already beginning to flood it, so, you know, block early, block often.

whisper networks only benefit some people. because!!!! abusers are VERY GOOD at making their victims not feel safe about asking the community about them

#HorrorWatch I can't actually find Event Horizon streaming in Canada without having to pay for it. We're going to, but I wanted you to be aware in case. It's not in Tubi or Pluto (up here anyhow) and we don't have a VPN.

I had amazing tacos for dinner and there's a good movie tonight. Things aren't always easy, and sometimes they're very bad indeed, but tonight is good, and I'm grateful 🥰

I've finally got pins and I have a new method for keeping the air humid in their growing tent, so I'm cautiously optimistic. If this goes well I have plans to do more, but if it aborts again I'm probably giving up for now. Can't have all the hobbies I guess! #mushrooms #fungi #OysterMushrooms

Still weird this very plain spoken call to mass violence isn’t dominating coverage!

Man, if it turns out that the right winger telling NY Times readers that they should follow his example and not vote did in fact vote in the last two elections, the Times should add this to the piece. Better than a retraction, since it illustrates a willful hypocrisy.
He voted in both 2020 and 2022.

Just canceled my long-standing NY Times subscription. Looking at its coverage of Joe Biden, not just over the past week but the whole of this year, it's like Hillary 2016 but worse. Can't help wondering if there's been an editorial decision that Trump will win & they need to insulate themselves

Judging folks for not knowing the thing "everyone knew" in your whisper network is a great way to tell the people whose safety you don't care about that you also feel morally superior to them.

"They're just fearmongering about Project 2025," brought to you by the people behind "They're just fearmongering about a coup" and "they're just fearmongering about abortion bans"

The NYT, the most influential paper in the country, just ran an Op Ed called 'Why I Don't Vote' by a guy who votes. It's that simple. The NYT is a farce. You cannot trust anything they print.

"Their rhetoric can sound expansive to the point of opacity. 'As the great men of the West bequeathed their deeds to us, so must we leave a legacy for our children,' the group’s website proclaims." Yeah, um... ...that's only opaque if you don't know what the Fourteen Words are

@pauljessup.com want to add a suggestion for next week's movie if that's possible: The Thing From Another World (Tubi). I'm not sure if it counts as cosmic, but there's an argument to be made that it does. Now, if anyone can find The Thing streaming for free instead, the fits more neatly!

@theglobeandmail.com I want to cancel my online account and it says I have to talk to a person. I'm not doing that. The only purpose is for them to talk me into staying, and I'm not staying. It's obnoxious that I can't cancel the same way I signed up. Please reply or DM so we can get this sorted.

It's not going to come down to a president or red states or blue states. It's going to come down to electing mayors and city council members that are brave enough to say "you're going to need to send in the National Guard if you want that shit enforced here." This is why we vote.
