not an original observation by far, but: one of the most useful things about project 2025 for the left is it's a way to organize people against Christian nationalism, and beyond this election, because they are not going anywhere

But if your hardline position is that not paying authors for their labor is a great way to end capitalism, you do not understand what capitalism is.

The funniest thing I've read today.
A friend just reminded everyone that in Yiddish, “Vance” (vahntz) means bedbug.

How about calling the Nationalist Christians the "Nat C"s" We need an abbreviation.

His columns make it clear that he's one of us, indeed. If you refuse to read anything in the NYT, you won't see that. (I still subscribe b/c I believe in keeping an eye on enemies.)
i don’t know jamelle bouie but it’s clear that he’s been here engaging with people because he’s about the same things most of us are. if you’ve tried to run him off for having bosses as bad as yours you've done nothing with time you could've spent doing something. you're just playing video games

The heck? Both Esquire and the NYT have put out "best books" lists, and THE FIFTH SEASON is on both! Is there a holiday coming up or something? Anyway, yay! Esquire's is SFF-specific (#4) and the NYT's is this-century specific (#44). www.esquire.com/entertainmen... www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

@tadethompson.bsky.social two concepts I picked up working on the cross-border digital sales VAT discussions were - ZOPA - zone of possible agreement, and BATNA - best alternative to negotiated agreement. Useful in identifying where to give ground, and when to walk away, in contract negotiations.

IOW, project 2025 desires to kill people who have chronic illness/disability. Eugenics.
I have re-read chapter 14 of project 2025 for work and i'm genuinely going to go take a benzo now "Add targeted time limits [on Medicaid] or lifetime caps on [Medicaid] benefits to disincentivize permanent dependence"

Biden seems to have mastered something that escaped university presidents: you don’t have to do what the NYT tells you. You can just … not do that.

A bit of promo as reaching readers becomes increasingly difficult. My current contemporary fantasy series is inspired by British myth and folklore. Dan Mackmain is mostly human, but he is a dryad's son, so the Green Man sends him to solve problems when the mundane and the uncanny collide. #booksky

There was lead in EVERY tampon they tested. There was less lead in organic tampons, but those had higher concentrations of arsenic. Also fun: It's 2024. This is the first ever study testing metals in tampons. Great. 🙃 www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/tox... Study: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Yes, I have a LOT OF BEEF with Biden. So much beef. and There is no version of the story that involves Republicans gaining more control of our government now that ends well. Not a single one. Come on. We know this. The answer is: Voting can't be the END of our fight for change. Ever.

Remember: vote downballot! Too many people say they won't vote b/c they don't like either Trump or Biden. Leave it blank and vote Blue the rest of the way, then. If Dems control both houses, impeachment becomes a real possibility.

Look at what happened in France, despite all the predictions for a Rightist victory! If we all pull together, we can do that here. "Yes we can!"

This is so true! In everything I write, at least, it's the people what count, not the devices.
We're science fiction writers. Of course we write stories about the consequences of technological innovations, and no one ever comprehends the story is about the consequences and not the technology
