they/them works if you *really* have no way of knowing name or pronouns. if it’s in a profesional context, you can focus on the role the subject is in. for example: - the medical field often just uses “patient”. - in product management, i often use the terms “customer”, “client”, or “user”.

My hunch is marketing, effectively. "Artificial Intelligence" and "Machine Learning" sounds more amazing than it is. It makes it sound like they're sentient. Like they understand and learn from us. The reality is, no, they aren't, and no, they don't. We're just really good at anthropomorphizing.

350 people die in NYC alone every year from the heat. Heat kills. AC saves lives.

Newspapers over here are doing the anti AC discourse again and it’s infuriating every time. Imagine telling someone to not heat their home during winter. Same thing. If we beefed up our infrastructure and took climate change seriously this wouldn’t even come up as an issue.
