I can’t decide if it’s more ironic that they codenamed it Jericho Wall after a famous instance of impenetrable defences being defeated with an unlikely plan, or that they codenamed it Jericho Wall seemingly framing themselves as the evil city state and Palestine as the plucky underdog Israelites.
The female IDF members who were monitoring cameras & such warned commanders about sketchy activity in the days and weeks before the attack. They were ignored.
Egyptian security services had determined the attack was being planned two months before it was launched and had informed the Israeli government. Israel ignored them
It feels very intentional that someone with access to Israeli intelligence documents and interviews made the choice to leak this to the NYT and not the Israeli press too
When has underestimating a group of very motivated militants every gone well? There are endless examples showing it hasn’t: American Revolutionaries, the IRA, Al Qaeda, the French Resistance, etc, etc, etc?
