Haha, no, but that’s a good guess!

Ha! I’m sure more than one person called his act “a low-rent version of The Prodigy” back in the day.

Making New York's outdoor dining program seasonal has essentially killed one of the few good things to come out of the pandemic and now everything will revert to parking: "...only 23 [restaurants] have public hearings scheduled so far to move forward, according to city records."
Roadway Dining May See Dramatic Decline Under Eric Adams As Deadline Looms - Streetsblog New York Citynyc.streetsblog.org New York City may see a steep drop in restaurants offering roadway outdoor dining, with just 23 eateries currently lined up to do so.

The A, E, and Z are express trains. If you're talking about the JFK Express, that was a joint program between the MTA and PA, and wouldn't be possible now without degrading services on those lines for people not bound for the airport. I'm not arguing, just offering facts.

Hochul just said, with an apparently straight face "I am one of the greatest champions of the MTA" in response to a question about congestion pricing, and all I want to know is... who does she thing she's fooling?

Not sure what you're talking about. What MTA shenanigans? The main reason we don't have direct transit access to the airports is because the Port Authority runs their own little fiefdom.

this is by far the craziest longshot candidate replacement idea I’ve heard, but if the technology’s there I’ll hear them out

Wait until you see how long it takes to get from Manhattan to JFK Airport by car at rush hour.
Avatar
Huh? It’s a 45-minute trip from Grand Central or Penn Station via LIRR and the AirTrain.

the editor of the New York Times reacting to a potential Trump second term with “fasten your seatbelts” is so deeply vile i can’t wrap my mind around it. these people have detached themselves so completely from the things they cover that the rise of fascism becomes just something exciting to watch
I'm no ivy league fail upward brunchlord news professional, but I feel it's generous to call conspiratorial fascism (managed by a sociopathic manbaby with a fourth grade reading level) "disruptive" that's kind of like saying nuclear annihilation is "modifying"

Not a huge issue considering Delta's domestic and international flights leave from the same side of the airport, but definitely risky if the first flight is late. (Assuming it's Delta?)

The slow motion coup against the American people continues. It won't stop until the coup plotters are dealt with the way coup plotters traditionally are, or until they win.
The GOP push to destabilize the 2024 election has already begun, with lawsuits filed in a host of states around familiar Trump talking points: mail-in ballots, supposed voter-registration fraud, etc. “This is how you build a story that enables political interference in the post-election process." 🎁
GOP jump-starts 2024 election challenges with Trump-inspired lawsuitswapo.st Democrats view the lawsuits as legally frivolous but still damaging to public confidence and a potential precursor to efforts to overturn the vote.

We need a resurgence of “Flagpole Sitta” to whip the kids into shape on this
Young people mispronouncing "zine" en masse is very upsetting for me and I fear that in just 10 years we could have another "gif" situation on our hands.

It’s 2024 and sports networks still haven’t figured out how to stop putting results of a game from showing up on their score ticker while they air a rebroadcast of that game.

Which does something worse: it encourages people to rely on private vehicles for rides. So that vehicle is mostly empty in one direction, whereas a rideshare vehicle can, in theory, be full of passengers both to and from the airport. (On the bright side, at least the new APM will be free!)
Avatar
Funny enough, I’ve never taken a rideshare or even private vehicle from BOS precisely because the Silver Line from the airport is free!
Avatar
It’s absolutely bonkers. Every single vehicle curbside here hasn’t moved since I got here 10 minutes ago, some are entirely shut off, one is even unoccupied (!), and a Port Authority cop walked by and did absolutely nothing.
Avatar
Almost every single one of theee vehicles gumming up the rideshare pickup area at JFK Terminal 1 are private vehicles, not TLC vehicles whose riders pay a fee to access the airport. This is exactly why we should charge drivers $8.50 to use JFK’s roadways and make the AirTrain free.

This entire trip was just a constant reminder of why I rarely fly Air France. Rarely on time, a kafkaesque transfer experience at CDG every time, and the worst terminal in New York.
