When the local news tried out Black Wolf, (notably after a court order telling the app to shut down), they were picked up by a retired cop who wasn't licensed to even be a security guard in Georgia.
Avatar
I hadn't heard about Black Wolf in quite a while, but checking their Facebook page it looks like they're planning to expand to new cities. I'd take that with a grain of salt. I'm pretty sure they said they'd be expanding to New York about a year ago, which didn't happen.

Even with the recent erosion of NYC gun control laws that would be hard and they'd still need a taxi limousine license

gun and car delivery app. do the drivers post weight and how easily they might fit in truck?

ex-cops breaking the law????

You didn't think they stop when they become ex did you?

My God. If you like Uber and Lyft's idea of operating an unlicensed taxicab service that says it doesn't actually employ its drivers and takes no responsibility for them, you'll *love* this unlicensed armed guard company. Also, read the article for a surprise cameo by Marjorie Taylor Greene.

An Uber clone that refuses to obey clear regulations and guardrails set up to put parameters on their operations?!? Now why would they think that they could do that? Perhaps because we let Uber and AirBnB and etc run roughshod over every regulatory attempt?

(Or, you know, like you said: Laws are fake until proven otherwise.)

Uber and Lyft also had mega-billions in investor resources and could afford extended legal battles

Avatar
It's not. But laws are fake until they're enforced.

I mean if you’ve got a lot of money to launder thru your ex-cop-as-drivers business you’re not necessarily gonna stop because of a court order
Avatar
Laws are fake until enforced? That’s not a rational statement. The law is still real, and that’s made obvious by the inherent risk of enforcement and prosecution
To be fair, this is what I was yelling about Uber when it came to New York City.
Avatar
The cops like it and are most likely working for them?

You know it's too many guns when a guns everywhere state tells you it's too many guns everywhere

Is that a Beachie Boy Song?

that's precisely why it's uber with armed drivers.

Louis Brandeis once said "government is great teacher." If you have corrupt former President and several Supreme Court justices openly, brazenly breaking law in broad daylight, that sends lesson to rest of country that laws are there to be flouted.

Super excited to live in the most brain-damaged version of a @jwomack.bsky.social novel’s cyberpunk dystopia.

tech bros heard us when we mocked them for reinventing the bus. so they set to work creating something truly unprecedented in American life: a poorly regulated network of armed psychos who are resistant to all forms of oversight
Avatar
And so the Sovereign Chauffeur movement was born.

Who’s the customer base for this?
Avatar
The founder works as security for Marjorie Taylor-Greene if that gives you a hint

Nah. They are too few. This is exclusively for the racist Karens who think the “this non-white person left a $20 on your windshield while you were shopping to secretly kidnap you into a trafficking ring” stories are actually true.
Avatar
Oh, suburban Karens who also leave awful reviews on Yelp.
Avatar
Yup. The “this place used to be great, but now it’s not as good as it used to be. It has gone downhill, one star” Karens because the table text to them were speaking to each other in Spanish.

Wow they really ARE a tech company aren’t they

I hope they're not planning to steal my idea, Rob'n'Ride. Save yourself a trip to the bank with Rob'n'Ride.
Avatar
It’ll be hilarious when two or three riders get killed in a shootout that really wasn’t a shootout only the armed driver thought it was.
Avatar
Basically the exact thing Uber did…

This content reminds me of Tina Fey on the summer edition of Weekend Update back in 2017 doing her Sheet-caking bit. Truly a grassroots movement I can get behind. But her talking about the number of armed militias just chilling in our country and shoveling cake in her mouth. It me reading this post.

“Or the security sector”? So folks that passed a Series 7. Doesn’t make me feel safe at all.
Avatar
Can't wait until they're competing with a similarly armed competitor over bookings. WTAF.

$500 per day fine = cost of doing business, or the cost of giving up on the sixth time trying to take the test.

These are the shady characters right-wingers like Greene surround themselves with.
